Suspended Silence

Suspended Silence

When I first began this blog, Holy Spirit would talk with me often and give me very specific instructions as to what He wanted me to write. But as you may have noticed, I have not written anything all summer.

Sometimes when the Lord is teaching me something in the secret place, I do ask if it is something I should blog about but I really haven’t had a clear directive to release a blog post until today.

Ever since the rededication of the US on May 17, 2026 (the Declaration of Dependence), I have felt like the Lord has been fairly quiet with me, and I have not understood why. Did I do something to grieve Holy Spirit? Was I disobedient in some way?

When I ask Him about it, He says, “You are hearing me.” And I think, “Well, yes I’m getting messages from Your Word, and You are communicating certain things, but when I ask questions or I just try to engage You, I don’t feel I’m hearing Your voice very loudly or clearly.

At least I learned enough by now to know that when the Lord says we are going to take the boat to the other side, I need to get into the boat and keep rowing as hard as I can believing that we will indeed get to the other side no matter how giant the squall that comes upon me. He won't keep telling me to row, nor will He give new instructions if the instructions and the destination remain the same.

So sometimes I know that when He seems silent, I just need to stick to the plan.

And He has at least given me Isaiah 30:15 as a guide as to how I should approach this season where He has seemed fairly quiet.

For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel:
“In returning and rest you shall be saved;
In quietness and confidence shall be your strength…” Isaiah 30:15 NKJV

The word for "returning" used in that verse means repentance. So what I'm hearing is that I am to stay in a state of repentance and be at rest, quietly and confidently trusting that He has everything under control even if I'm not hearing a lot from Him.

Side Note: What I'm doing here with the Lord is called reflective listening, and it is something I teach couples to do with each other. It lets your spouse know you are listening and at the same time, your spouse can verify if you are indeed hearing them correctly.

Ok I get that following the instructions in Isaiah 30:15 will help me to cope with this period of what feels like prolonged silence. But I still wanted to know if there was more for me to understand about why God was so talkative initially but so much less so since May 17th?

Well if I've learned anything in the past 2 years it is that often the Lord makes Himself very accessible for a time but then after a while He stops handing me things on a silver platter so that I have to work for them. I have to actually seek Him if I want to find Him. He's not going to do all the pursuing. And what marriage therapist can't understand that?

Am I insinuating that the Creator of the entire universe likes to play hide and seek with His children? I’m convinced it’s His favorite game.

And it’s fun and exciting until I become the panicked 3 yo crying and screaming to my Dad in the middle of the kitchen, “Where are you? I can’t find you!!”

Course He’s only half hidden just around the corner but I don’t know that, and like the 3 yo, I was starting to be in distress.

That is where I was this morning when He decided to give me a hint. He reminded me that the very life of the prophet is prophetic.

This made me ask the right question. Instead of asking if I was doing something wrong which was leading to an experience of silence I asked if there was a message in the silence?

Ding, ding, ding!

In my head I imagine God smiling and saying, "You’re getting warmer…"

Ahh, the hot and cold game. I can do this one!

Lord, are You communicating to me that You want the church to stop being Martha and to start sitting at Your feet like Mary, living by every word that proceeds from your mouth?

Indeed He does. He delights in our presence and He wants every single one of us to know that He loves us with a love we cannot possibly begin to imagine. How disappointed He is when we open the door, invite Him in for a few minutes, ask Him for a few things and then send Him away without ever asking Him what's on His heart.

Desperation for Him and for His presence is a pre-requisite for the level of seeking we need to do. Sometimes He's quiet to make us faint with hunger. Blessed are we when we hunger because those who hunger will be fed and satisfied (my paraphrase of Matthew 5:6).

But wait there's more.

This isn't just about our individual relationships with Him.

He wants us to know there is an overarching message and meaning in the current silence many of us have been experiencing. It marks a time in history when something is about to happen.

He referred to it as a moment of “suspended silence" which gave me a sense of all of creation waiting with bated breath for what the Lord was about to do next. We are literally being held in suspense. Could this be why yesterday a rabbit sat directly outside my office window quietly not moving for 12 minutes?

Screenshots of pictures (with time stamps) that I took yesterday morning.

I feel like the rabbit would have stayed there longer but I began to feel bothered by its presence. What was he waiting for?

Enough going down the bunny trail.

I looked up the phrase “suspended silence," and AI told me this:

“Suspended silence refers to a state where quietness feels held, stretched, or paused in time as if an impending sound or movement is caught mid-air. Rather than a total absence of noise, it describes a heavy, liminal or expectant atmosphere."

To understand even better the Lord directed me to the dramatic pause in Revelation 8 and said that this current moment of suspended silence is in some way like the one we read about in this chapter.

When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets. Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.
So the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.” Revelation 8:1-6

Woah! First of all, wrap your mind around the fact that for 1/2 hour, God has all of heaven experience two things you do not seem to experience in heaven: time and silence. He has all of heaven enter into earth time and experience what it feels like to wait --in complete silence for 1/2 hour. Have you ever paused for a moment of silence? Now imagine all of heaven doing that for THIRTY MINUTES!

So that is what a moment of “suspended silence" feels like?

Then came the breakthrough revelation.

In Revelation 8, after the 30 minute period of silence, the angel takes a golden censer, fills it with the prayers of the saints and adds to them burning incense. Then the smoke of the incense, mixed with the prayers of the saints, ascends before God from the angel’s hand.

What happens next? FIRE.

The angel takes the same censer and fills it with fire from the altar and throws it to the earth. The heavy atmosphere of silence is pierced by noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.

The judgment of God is released.

What is the connection between this 1/2 hour silence and the moment we are in right now?

The prayers of the saints are about to start a fire.

God has heard the cries of His people, of His remnant Bride the church.

He has heard the prayers and desperate cries of the hidden ones. (We’ll get into who the hidden ones are and where they fit into all of this in the next post).

God has heard the groaning of all of creation which is longing for the revelation of the sons of God.

For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.  Romans 8:20-22

The Lord has heard, and He is about to act swiftly and decisively.

It will be an act of judgment against the intense evil and oppression we have been experiencing —all the stealing, killing and destroying— and against those responsible.

And it will be an incredible act of love, of mercy and of provision as the Lord delivers His people from evil. God's fire will burn out the weeds in our lives and will ignite our heart and our passion for Him. I know He seems delayed in giving us the justice we have been crying out for but as we know, He is not slow but is patient with those who have been perpetrators of the evil because He understands the evil that many of them have been subjected to. And He wants to deliver them as well out of darkness.

Who are the hidden ones the Lord is delivering from slavery in Egypt?

What will He do for His people?

How does this all relate to the end time harvest?

I journaled about all of this as well but it's too much to fit in one blog. I do believe He wants me to release the rest of this revelation so stay tuned.

But in the meantime take heart if you still feel like you are waiting for the breakthrough He promised. Do not forget that the Lord uses delay to test us. If you aren't hearing His voice clearly, do you double down and get up twice as early the next morning so you can sit longer at His feet until you hear from Him? Or do you give up and start spending less and less time seeking Him since you aren't getting that much out of it anyway?

Do you go around Him like those who turn to astrology and mediums/psychics if they can't hear His voice? Maybe you know the Lord hates witchcraft and say you would never do such a thing, but what if I told you that listening to all the prophets on YouTube hoping someone has a word for you before you have heard anything from the Lord can actually be its own form of divination?

It's not bad to listen to the messages the Lord releases through the ones that are truly hearing from Him. But if you aren't hearing from Him first, you won't know if it's a word you can trust or not. We must first hear from the Lord, then listen to the words He releases through His people. And their messages should confirm what we've already heard directly from Him. If all else fails, you can at least continue to read and study His Word because Jesus is the Word. And you can always encounter Him that way.

Meditate on scripture until He speaks to you through it. This is your rhema word.

Know that help is on the way. We are in the midst of a pregnant pause, and I believe we are in the final stages of the third trimester.

To be continued.

Thank You, Lord, that You have heard the cries of Your people and even though it seems like nothing is happening, like the enemy is going unchecked and can continue stealing, killing and destroying people's time, talent and treasure, You're actually about to halt the thief in his tracks. The war is about to turn in our favor and we will be the ones pursuing the enemy and recovering all.

Amen, Lord! Let it be to your servant as You have spoken.
