Omega
“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”” Revelation 22:13 NKJV
What I am about to share with you gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. Where to start? Let’s start with Alpha and Omega. We know that Alpha is the very first letter of the Greek alphabet and that Omega is the last so we understand and are very accustomed to viewing God as Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the author and the finisher of our faith.
“[looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith [the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity], who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God [revealing His deity, His authority, and the completion of His work]. [Ps 110:1]” Hebrews 12:2 AMP
When the two words Alpha and Omega appear separately from one another, we are used to the emphasis being on the word Alpha. I barely go a week without hearing about Genesis 1 and the phrase “in the beginning.” God is often referred to and thought of as the one who was before all and the Creator of all things. And we often reflect on the creation story, the world before the fall and how we think Christ has restored created order.
And in culture the concept and word Alpha has occupied quite a bit of real estate in my lifetime:
- Alpha males are the dominant and assertive leaders of a pack and this concept is pervasive in American culture both in the business world and in dating.
- Alpha is used in software development to denote the first iteration of something, the “alpha version” which is used for early testing
- Alphas were the black fraternity whose parties I attended in college (N.B. I chose Harvard specifically because it did not have Greek organizations but I did enjoy going to Alpha parties at MIT)
- Alpha USA is an intro to Christianity course out of England (I led one of these groups at my church in the mid 90s)
- Generation Alpha (born 2010-2024) is the first fully 21st century born generation
It’s been all Alpha, Alpha, Alpha.
But as if a switch has been flipped all of a sudden two words are being highlighted to me: Omega and Tetelestai.
I was watching a YouTube video of @UnshakableWithApril, and she has a big sign on the shelf over her right shoulder which says “Tetelestai John 19:30." Before I noticed the verse reference I wondered what the word meant and where I’d seen it before. Then I opened my gmail and realized I see Tetelestai Ministries on emails because it’s the new name for Her Voice MVMT. Here’s John 19:30 NKJV:
“So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”
Tetelestai is the very last word Jesus uttered before He died. According to Gemini it is the perfect tense form of the Greek word teleo, translating to “It is finished” or “it has been paid in full.” Wow, I didn’t know the last words of Jesus were, “It has been paid in full.” Gemini says that “while teleo is the act of finishing, tetelestai represents a completed action in the past with permanent, ongoing results.” How cool and how perfect is that?
But that’s not what is blowing my mind right now. It’s this shift where Jesus is focusing us on seeing Him as the Omega, as the finisher, who is bringing to completion that which He started. I’ve never paid much attention to the word Omega before. But earlier this week I was watching Paul Keith Davis on the Liz Wright show, and he was talking about last days mysteries which God is unveiling right now. He talked about how God is revealing straight from His heart to ours a word, a scroll that according to Daniel was sealed up until the end times. It was unwritten so that it would not be manipulated or counterfeited by the enemy. Paul Keith posed this question:
Are we the ones who will dine at the Lord’s table, eat the scroll and articulate to others His rhema words?
The strategy the Lord has given him is a way of praying which he calls Omega prayer where you sit quietly listening to the Lord for 30 minutes and then pray only what He gives you to pray.
I was telling my friend Dayla, guest contributor on this blog site, that I feel God leading me to start an Omega prayer group. She focused in immediately on the word Omega. She told me of a friend who recently communicated to her that as she prayed for her son, God specifically told her to not forget that He is also the Omega and on her vision board for her son there was a picture of the Omega watch. And EUERKA!
The Omega watch is an indication, a sign that the times have shifted.
God is widely known as creator but He is now revealing Himself as the One who finishes and finishes strong.
We have entered the last days in a very meaningful way, and here comes the Finisher. I’ve already told you about this new era of church. This is the final hour. The Lord is coming for a pure and spotless bride and that bride is now in the process of making herself ready. It is absolutely imperative that we get rid of ALL the sin that so easily entangles and fix our eyes on Jesus as a bride fixes her eyes on her groom at the altar, glancing only occasionally at the important guests seated around her as she makes her way down the aisle to be united with her beloved.
I have more to say on this matter but Jesus wants to end with us meditating on our bride groom. First let's glance in the mirror and see the beautiful bride:
“And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”” Revelation 19:6-9 NKJV
Ok, bride, I see you looking amazing arrayed in your fine linen. But now turn and behold your Bridegroom:
“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Rev 19:11-16 NKJV
WOW WHAT AN ENTRANCE! I am undone. No longer shall we fixate on Baby Jesus in the manger. When we close our eyes, let not the picture of gentle Jesus from our children's Bible dominate our focus. Shelve the Catholic Jesus bleeding and dying on the cross. And let us feast our eyes on the King of Kings and Lord of Lords who is to come and who will perfectly complete and finish all things. He will be the last one standing. He is OMEGA.
to be continued...
Amen, Lord! Let it be to your servant as You have spoken.
